NOAH London is just around the corner, so we sat down with Europe’s most promising startups to learn more about why their products and services can revolutionize the digital ecosystem.
Today, we’re chatting with Florian Bonanati, Founder and Managing Director of R3 Communications GMBH who will be presenting on our Startup Stage at our conference on 30-31 October at Old Billingsgate.
Could you tell us more about R3?
R3 – Reliable Realtime Radio Communications GmbH (R3) enables the integration of high-performance wireless technology for time-critical industrial applications.
Today, wireless communications are barely used in industrial machine-to-machine (M2M) communications because existing wireless systems do not meet industrial requirements regarding reliability and latency. Thus, expensive, heavy, and inflexible cabling is the current solution for M2M communications and as well as for most Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI).
This situation opens up system designs that take resource efficiency, operation scalability and machine safety to the next level. With the unique wireless solution ECHORING, cables can be reduced in e.g. production facilities. Based on token passing and massive cooperation, ECHORING enables deterministic and real-time wireless communications (down to 1ms) with a cable like performance. Applied on standard hardware, ECHORING is cost-effective and highly flexible.
When and why did you launch the business?
We started the business in 2015. Since then, the wireless radio technology ECHORING has been further developed and the first text sets have been sold. In November 2019 we will launch our first own products on the market.
Why will you be successful?
We have a unique technology advantage in our cutting-edge proprietary software technology, distinctive IPR portfolio with 8 international patent families, wireless expert team with 20+ professionals.
We have an excellent partnership with Texas Instruments which grants us lowest layer software access on industrial chipsets, no chipset development cost, cooperation on following generations, worldwide market access in cooperation with TI marketing.
Finally, we have an outstanding network of global market leaders that are among R3’s customers and engagement within 5G-Alliance for connected industries and automation which includes a board seat strong academic network with international universities
What is your next big challenge?
Our next big challenge is the successful launch of our products. The official first publication of the products will take place on 26.11. in Nuremberg on the SPS in hall 5 booth 250. From then on it will be a matter of successfully entering the market and establishing our products there on a long-term basis.
What are you looking for at NOAH?
We hope to make many new and fruitful acquaintances through NOAH, perhaps with a bit of luck in finding new customers and potential investors.
Are you planning to raise funds over the coming months and what criteria should your ideal investor have?
We are planning our next financing round at the end of this year. We are hoping raise €10m, in order to scale up our sales, establish a professional & customer Service as well as Hardware Support. In addition, we want to improve the product by extending the user experience, flexibility, I/O compatibility and quality assurance. In order to remain competitive in the long term, we want to maintain our technological advantage by integrating 5G and silicon platforms. We do not set special criteria for potential investors.
